February's NSAF Select Meets

The NSAF supports several national calibre meets around the country during both the indoor and outdoor seasons. We assist with travel grants to athletes generally selected by the meet directors who may, for example, want to highlight a particular event such as the mile or hurdles.

February's Select Meets are the Simplot Games in Pocatello, Idaho, and the Kentucky High School Invite in Kexington, KY.  Watch for meet previews, ongoing coverage, interviews, photo galleries and more on our website and social media.

NSAF Performance Clinics

The Second Annual Cedric Walker Performance Clinic returns to Rochester, New York on March 22nd for a full packed learn-by-doing two-session agenda.  We'll cover  efficient warm-up techniques, high jump, triple jump, hurdles and the throws.  And, we've lined up a cast of expert clinicians who understand coaching high school athletes. Our triple jump expert, Peter Pratt, is flying in from the Bahamas! Get full information and register!

NSAF Emerging Elite Athletes of the Week

The girls pole vault takes center stage this week.  Carson Dingler broke the old freshman record last week and Makayla Linebarger is a few short inches behind.  Both are being honored as our Emerging Elite Athletes of the Week for multiple performances this winter. Steve Underwood asks the hard questions takes the opportunity to speculate on how the outdoor season may  shape up for these two talented young vaulters.

World Youth Olympics - America's Team Trials

Trials for this initially confusing event will be held in Miramar, Florida (near Miami) April 4-5, 2014.  The Games themselves will be held in Nanjing, China on August 20-26, 2014, and athletes born in 1997 or 1998 are eligible.

But just how does this America's Team work?  What countries are included along with the US and how will the athletes be finally selected?  These questions and more are answered by Jim Spier right here. The NSAF will be providing travel grants to selected athletes to compete for spots on America's Team and we will provide full meet coverage of both the trials and the Olympics from China.

CARIFTA Games is the ultimate high school/junior age competition in the Caribbean.  This year's edition will be in Martinique April 18-24, and, the NSAF will again partner with CARIFTA organizers to to provide a special CARIFTA Meet Package for US college & university coaches.  The package includes admission each day to the stadium, warmup area and athlete and coaching seating area. The credential will also provide access to bus transportation on the official bus loop (Track/Hotel Valmenière) and daily Start Lists in addition to special drastically reduced rates at the meet headquarters hotel which is within walking distance of the stadium.

Registration for the credential is only $65.00.  For coaches not able to travel until Sunday April 23rd there is the possibility of a charter flight from St. Marteen to Martinique.  Details on the registration site.
