Race day is HERE for GAXC Festival and HBCU Challenge!

The countdown is OVER for the 2019 Great American Cross Country Festival and Cedric Walker HBCU Challenge, and race day is HERE. We are excited to once again welcome more than 3,400 prep and collegiate runners to WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C., Saturday, October 5, for a festive day of stellar XC competition! We are also thrilled to have Nike as our main sponsor once again and that the meet will serve for the 4th straight year as the Official NXN Southeast Pre-Regional.

The GAXC Nike Boys Race of Champions will feature the top two teams from the 2018 NXN Nationals in 2-time champion Loudoun Valley HS (VA) and runner-up Great Oak HS (CA). The Vikings of LVHS are also 2-time defending champions here (and NXN Southeast as well), while the Wolfpack is making their first visit here from California since 2011. The race could be wide open individually.

The Nike Girls Race of Champions field is highlighted by 2-time NXN National champ Katelyn Tuohy -- the North Rockland HS (NY) senior who is unbeaten in XC the past two years and is running WakeMed for the first time. The meet (16:40.9, Aisling Cuffe, 2010) and course (16:36.2, Nevada Moreno, 2015) records are on the line! Great Oak and Loudoun Valley are also two of the top contenders for the girls' team title.

Joining us this year from Nike and the Bowerman Track Club will be Grant Fisher (photo at left courtesy of Bowerman TC), signing autographs and meeting athletes and fans! Grant was a two-time Gatorade National XC Runner of the Year while in HS in 2013-2014, then a 12-time All-American at Stanford from which he graduated this past June! He was the 7th high schooler ever to break 4:00 for the mile when he ran 3:59.38 in '14! Check out the story HERE

Meanwhile, the question in the 10th Annual HBCU Challenge men's race is can the Morehouse College men defend their 2018 title without graduated 3-time champion Trey Simons and can the North Carolina A&T State women and defending champ G’Jasmyne Butler repeat as well.

The NSAF is very grateful for our Title Sponsor - Nike - as well our our Official Sports Fuel Provider, Gatorade. We also thank all of the other generous supporters for whom our races have been named: The Greater Raleigh Sports Alliance, the Town of CaryRoll Recovery and the Bone and Joint Surgery Clinic. Finally, we welcome our partner ElliptiGO, which joined us at GAXC for the first time last year, and our new partners from Jawku -- which is making its debut here!
