This past weekend I competed at my Section V state qualifier meet.  I won the 1000m with 2:57 and the 300m with a 39.57, which was only .02 of the sections record.  Hopefully I can break it at states,

We also won the 4x2 relay, which I ran along with Ceara Watson, Lanae-Tava Thomas, and Tori Thompson.  We ran 1:42.87 in the prelims which was a PR for us.

At states my main focus is the 1000m, but I have high expectations of myself and hope to make it to the finals in the 300m and 4x200m, and place high on the podium in all three.

Practice this week it still somewhat vigorous.  We do what we can in the hallways of the school, usually 300m repeats along with lots of core work.

During the day, I drink lots of fluids and eat no junk foods and make sure to get enough rest so I can focus in school.  My grades are decent; I have about a 92 average.  I balance school and track well, but track is probably heavier on the scale.  They say school comes first, but getting in a long run or a good workout in before starting homework is nice so I don't have to worry about it later and it gives me energy to do the work.

Running is a good stress reliever and competing and winning are fun, a lot more fun than school.  When I grow up I hope to be still running and also a math teacher – that's my favorite subject.  But my first plan is to run and be happy, and maybe find a job doing that.
