January 31, 2022 – Today, the National Scholastic Athletics Foundation and Nike have announced an expanded partnership to support high school track & field athletes. As part of the partnership, Nike will sponsor this winter’s Nike Indoor Nationals at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex, March 11-13 in Staten Island, N.Y., as well as the Nike Outdoor Nationals that will follow on June 16-19 in Eugene, Ore. – centerpieces of what’s expected to be an electrifying year of high school track & field events.
Built on a storied history together, including Nike Indoor and Outdoor Nationals throughout the 2000s, the first-ever Nationals meet backpack in 2000, and last summer’s groundbreaking The Outdoor Nationals, presented by Nike, at Hayward Field at the University of Oregon, both the NSAF and Nike are committed to serving the next generation of athletes by bringing excellence and excitement to the sport.
“Having Nike back on board with us after the excitement and energy we ignited together last summer in Eugene positions the NSAF to better serve high school athletes,” said NSAF Meet Director Kristi Rieger. “Our partnerships with Nike are a special part of NSAF history. Nike was instrumental to the growth of both of our National Meets, our Indoor Nationals from 1999-2010 and our Outdoor Nationals from 2005-09, as well as our Great American XC Festival. We look forward to what we’ll be able to offer athletes in 2022 and beyond.”
This partnership, which also includes RunnerSpace, AthleticNET, Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex, TrackTown USA and Hayward Magic, will continue to produce exciting digital innovations, such as the direct-to-athlete competition videos that were brought to life Outdoors in 2021. Athletes who register for Nike Indoor Nationals by February 21 will also get a customizable backpack, following a grand tradition which Nike and the NSAF launched 22 years ago.
The NSAF, with a number of different sponsor partners, has been involved with putting on the National Championships for high school-age athletes since the very first Indoor Nationals in 1984. The NSAF launched the Nike Indoor Classic in 1999 and continued to partner with Nike through the first decade of the 2000s.
Both the Nike Indoor and Outdoor Nationals will be held in accordance with all state and local COVID-19 guidelines in place at the time of the events, which will be announced in the weeks ahead..
