Qualifying for The Indoor Nationals Championship distance races now offered through XC performances

by Steve Underwood

Due to the impact of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we realize that opportunities to achieve qualifying times in long distance races on the track could be more limited in some states this winter. To compensate for this, we at the NSAF are offering additional ways to qualify for The Indoor Nationals through a select group of national and regional level cross-country championships.

If runners achieve any of the cross-country performance standards below, they qualify for ONE of The Indoor Nationals Championship distance events of their choice: The 1-Mile, 2-Mile or 5000-meter run:

  • Top 10 finishers at East Bay Nationals
  • Top 10 finishers at Running Lane Nationals
  • Top 3 finishers at each of the 9 NXN Regionals

When registering, using the form on AthleticNET, be sure to indicate which of the above-mentioned cross-country meets you competed in and the place you finished. Any questions may be directed to info@nationalscholastic.org.

We look forward to hosting the nation's best distance runners, as well as the best from all other events, at The Indoor Nationals at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex, March 11-13, 2022!
