Carl Lewis coming to Nike Outdoor National Meet

If the talented high school track and field athletes you will see in Greensboro in June is not enough of a draw for you to attend the 2008 Nike Outdoor National Championships, today it was announced that Olympic legend Carl Lewis will be there to inspire and encourage the participants and fans.

Carl earned 10 Olympic medals that include 9 gold, in addition to his 10 World Championships medals (8 gold) from his 17 years as a world class competitor. Carl retired from Track and Field in 1996 after his last Olympics in Atlanta and currently is pursuing an acting career.

A sprinter and long jumper, Carl competed and set records in long jump, 100m and 200m, plus those respective relay events.

On his web site (www.carllewis.com) he tells the story (audio of his voice) of how he got his start, and illustrates an incredible career with a wonderful photo gallery. A synopsis of his career achievements can be found here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carl_Lewis).

Carl will be presenting the sprint and long jump medals and be available on Saturday afternoon in the Nike tent to meet and sign autographs.
