Mike Byrnes Coach of the Year - Robert L’Homme

We first became aware of Bob L’Homme when we had the opportunity to move the Nike Indoor Nationals to Boston.  Frank Mooney, who helped with the transition, suggested that we contact Bob.

Bob took over the awards/Championship ring area and has done a terrific job.  At that point, we were really not fully aware of his coaching prowess.

He has been coaching and teaching at Bishop Feehan High School (Attleboro, MA) since 1984, the school from which he graduated in 1977.

He has been the head boy’s spring track coach from the year he started teaching.  His track record is 164-23 and the boys have not lost a dual meet since 1999, at one point going 79-0.  During that time, his teams won 18 league championships, 7 State divisional championships and 8 state divisional relay championships.

He was the head indoor boys and girls coach from 1984 to 1992, retiring as indoor coach to spend more time with his children.   His record was 40-17-2 with the boy’s team and 36-15-5 with the girl’s team.

He began coaching cross-country, boys and girls, in 1992, the year he retired as the indoor coach.  The boy’s record has been 137-18 and the girls 136-12.   The boys have won 16 league championships, 4 Divisional State Championships and 4 State Championships during that time.   The girls have won 15 league championships, 7 Divisional State championships and 2 State Championships

The overall record for all seasons is 513-85-7!

Last year, a club team from Massachusetts he coached , won the Nike Cross Nationals Northeast Regionals,  and went on to place 15th at the Nike Cross Nationals in Portland, OR.

We have honored many great coaches over the years, and Bob L’Homme is certainly one of the most worthy.  We are happy that Bob is the 2010 Mike Byrnes Coach of the Year.
