XC Town USA Meet of Champions offers 1st major HS competition since March

Harriers around the Midwest and the nation beyond have a new national-class, post-season racing opportunity next month with the NSAF's XC Town USA Meet of Champions, Presented by The Garrett Companies. The event will take off Sunday, Nov. 15 at LaVern Gibson Championship XC Course in Terre Haute, IN -- thanks to the initiative and tremendous support of Eric Garrett (the company's CEO), as well as the Terre Haute and LaVern Gibson XC communities.

The safety of all athletes, coaches, spectators, and staff is our number one priority, including implementing a number of protocols and precautions to ensure safety for all. The 12-race slate (max of 168 per race) includes Boys & Girls High School Championships, Elite/Open Men’s (8k) and Women’s (6k) competition, plus Middle School, Freshmen and additional HS open races. Teams will register as club teams, but MUST be made up of the same athletes that are eligible to compete for their school team. See you in XC Town, USA!


Virtual GAXC Festival launching this week

The countdown for the 2020 Virtual Great American XC Festival is almost complete. The new event will be contested from Friday, October 16 through Monday, October 26. You can race any time during the 11-day window over your favorite XC course, the roads or on the track, and record your effort using the AthleticAPP and GPS Record Run.

The event includes divisions for high school boys & girls teams and individuals (5k), as well as youth/middle school boys & girls (3k) and open/community men & women (5k). The $25 entry fee includes a commemorative long-sleeve tee, puts you in the running for top finisher awards and earns you promotional codes to unlock discounted items. Registrants can also purchase commemorative short sleeve t-shirts and participant medals.

Ocean Breeze set to host NSAF's Indoor Nationals next March

The NSAF's Indoor Nationals is looking forward to its new home this winter: The state-of-the-art Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, N.Y. The exciting, new partnership was announced last month with this coming winter's showdown set for March 11-14, 2021. The Indoor Nationals is now expanding to four days -- with one day devoted to Freshman and Middle School events -- in addition to the Championship and Emerging Elite divisions.

Registration will open in the weeks ahead. The dates of the event may be subject to change depending on the recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. A presenting sponsor for the 2021 NSAF Indoor Nationals will be disclosed in the near future.

The Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex opened in 2015 and has become one of the premier centers for track & field at all levels. Led by Park Administrator Lauren Primerano and Director of Special Events Louis Vazquez, it has hosted the 2019 Toyota USATF Championships, the Hershey and USATF National Youth Champs, and many more large-scale meets. The 135,000 square-foot, $93 million facility is the first to be World Athletics-certified in the U.S. The elite-level hydraulically-banked competition track can convert from eight to six lanes and incline up to 4.5 feet.


FasTrak/NSAF Southern Indoor Challenge registration will open in November

We're just a few weeks away from the opening of registration for the FasTrak/NSAF Southern Indoor Challenge, scheduled for the blazing, banked 200m oval at Yeoman Fieldhouse at University of Houston on Feb. 6-7, 2021.

Sure to be one of the most outstanding meets for the upcoming indoor season, plans include a full program of HS and youth T&F events, plus a special slate of open events for post-collegians (pending COVID 19-related reopening conditions).

The NSAF is thrilled to again work with FasTrak Athletix Managing Director Thor Jacobs and General Manager Steve McBride, having previously done so in 2018 when the Dunamis Super Meet brought indoor track back to Georgia

USA Javelin Project fall clinic set for Hoover AL, Nov. 13-14

The USA Javelin Project Fall Clinic is a fantastic opportunity for throwers of all ages and experience levels to train with NSAF's Project Javelin Gold Coach Tom Pukstys and a stellar staff of aspiring 2021 Olympians. Registration is open for the Nov. 13-14 event at Hoover High School in Hoover, AL.

Registration for the clinic is $150 and you can go to the event's page at AthleticNET to register. Coach Pukstys started the USA Javelin Project last year to train and help support post-collegiate javelin throwers hoping to make U.S. national teams. Some of the throwers have trained with Project Javelin Gold while in high school.
