Track & Field and Cross-Country Bulletin for Dec 24, 2019
To all of those in our NSAF family who celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and other holidays or holy days, we wish you a festive season filled with peace, joy and the love of family and friends.
We have been so blessed with your support during 2019. All of you wonderful student-athletes, coaches, parents, officials, volunteers -- and our sponsors and partners – are the reason we do what we do and it wouldn’t be possible without you. We hope you will help us continue to fulfill our mission: Opening doors to the world for our youth, through athletics, and providing them opportunities to succeed.
Please have a bright, safe holiday season and here’s to a spectacular New Year in 2020! See you at our meets and clinics!
Project Triple Jump: Back to Cuba
An all-time highlight for Project Triple Jump unfolded this past January when we took our student-athletes to Cuba for the first time. It was a weekend of incredible learning and sharing between our NSAF staff coaches – Project Coordinator Macka Jones, Olympic Gold Medalist Kenny Harrison and former World Record Holder Willie Banks – and the stellar Cuban national team coaches, led by Juan Gualberto Napoles Cardenas. The biggest beneficiaries, of course, were our Project Triple athletes who were able to train with the world’s best coaches and athletes.
In less than a month, we’re going back! Coaches Jones and Harrison and our NSAF staff are leading our group again to Havana, January 16-20, 2020. Register HERE and check out the information on our Project Triple Jump page on how you can join us!
Project Javelin Gold: On to LSU
After very successful clinics in Sioux Falls, SD this past August and Hoover, AL last month, we are now headed to Baton Rouge for the final Project Javelin Gold clinic of the season – then it’s all about getting ready to compete for another great spring and summer! Last spring we had six NBNO All-Americans and athletes advancing to Pan American U-20 Championships! What will 2020 bring?
We’ve trained in Baton Rouge several times, thanks to the great facilities at LSU and the hospitality of our coach-on-the-ground, Rob Woosley. Join us Feb. 13-16 as Coaches Tom Pukstys, Barry Krammes and Kim Hamilton lead another great event! Register now and view the details on our Project Javelin Gold page!
Our new Select Meet calendar is set!
The 2019-20 NSAF Select Meet schedule has been posted and we’re working with some outstanding events around the country, helping them with promotion and – in many cases – helping to create opportunities for elite athletes to participate. Kicking off the indoor season action next week is the first of the Big 3 series at Ocean Breeze in New York, followed by new events in Virginia and South Carolina and several others – including the 42nd Simplot Games.
Then the outdoor schedule will feature more great meets, from Maryland to Alabama to California – including for the first time the Mt. SAC Relays – and concluding with the 45th Great Southwest Classic. Check out the entire schedule, with links to each meet, and hope to see you at one of these events! 2019 NSAF Select Meets
Time to get Advance Tickets for NBNI!
We have less than three months before the first starting gun at the 2020 New Balance Nationals Indoor, set to run this coming March 13-15 at The Armory Track and Field Center in New York. You can make sure you have the best seats in the house by purchasing advance tickets for any or all of the three days: FRIDAY – SATURDAY – SUNDAY, all seats alongside of or in front of the finish line and in the front rows.
Meanwhile go to our NBNI meet homepage, where you can REGISTER, and review the SCHEDULE, ENTRY STANDARDS and PAST RESULTS. This is our 10th meet with our great partners from New Balance and the first in which we will offer the 4x100m relay! Whether you’re a sprinter, distance runner, hurdler, jumper, vaulter, thrower or walker – it’s time to start preparing for the biggest and best meet of the indoor season!
