The NSSF & Robert Schumake Welcomes you to the 3rd Annual HBCU Challenge
We once again welcome you to the Robert Shumake Historically Black College and University Challenge. The starter's gun will sound for the Mens 8K race at 9:30 a.m. and for the Women's 5K race at 10:05 a.m. on Saturday morning October 1st at the Wake-Med Soccer Complex in Cary, NC. This is the third year for the event and it continues to grow.
We especially appreciate the support of the event sponsor, Mr. Robert Shumake, CEO of Inheritance Capital Group, who has provided support for the Challenge from the beginning. “In addition to showcasing exceptional athletic abilities,” Shumake said, “The HBCU Challenge also offers opportunities off the field for socializing, networking and exchanging ideas."
In 2009, Norfolk State University swept both races. Last year the Norfolk Men successfully defended their title. However it was the Lady Pirates of Hampton who upset the Spartans. Coach Giles says this year the Spartans are ready to SHOCK THE WORD! Will they go home with the coveted Championship Cup and Championship watches?

Packet Pickup - at the Wake Med Soccer Park on Friday, September 30, 2011, 1:00pm-5:00pm and again at Wake Med Soccer Park on Saturday, October 1, 2011 starting at 6:30 a.m. The course will be open for inspection until 3:00pm on Friday, September 30, 2011.
