Deal will include Project athlete testing with Sanford Sports Science Institute

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The National Scholastic Athletic Foundation has partnered with the Sanford Sports Science Institute, which will become the non-profit organization’s exclusive national sports medicine research partner.

Through this five-year partnership, Sanford Health – an integrated health system headquartered in the Dakotas – will conduct research in conjunction with the NSAF to help with the development of future Olympic and World Championship hopefuls, particularly in its Project Javelin Gold and Project Triple Jump programs.

The Sanford Sports Science Institute’s experts conduct innovative Exercise Physiology, Concussion, Nutrition, and Biomechanics research. The SSSI also offers a variety of cutting-edge athlete services using state-of-the-art equipment and facilities that are unmatched in its region. These services include detailed physiological evaluations in a controlled environmental chamber; comprehensive gait analysis; fitness testing; sport nutrition testing and consults and on-field assessments. The goal is to improve the health, safety and performance of all NSAF athletes.

The SSSI staff will attend all major NSAF events, starting with the New Balance Nationals Outdoor June 16-18 in Greensboro, North Carolina, where more than 5,000 athletes will participate.  Sanford Health will also host some of the NSAF Performance Clinics, starting with a special combined Project Javelin Gold and Project Triple Jump clinic August 10-13 at Howard Wood Field in Sioux Falls. The clinic will be open to any interested athletes and coaches.
