Some Historical Facts About US Teams Placings at the World Youth Champs

Boys

100 Never have won a gold.  The best finishes were seconds by Bryan Sears in 1999 (10.42) and Willie Hordge in 2001 (10.41)

200 One gold ever – Jonathan Wade in 2001 (20.95)

400 Never have won a good.  The best finish was second by Cedric Goodman (Chalonda’s brother) in 2003 (46.42)

800 Never finished above 8th, which was done twice – Michael Hadden in 2003 (1:53.31) and Dylan Ferris in 2007 (1:51.91).

1500 Best finish ever was 8th by Rolf Steier in 2001 (3:53.62)

3000 Never had a finalist until this year, where there are two:  Zach Wills and Erik Olson

2000m Steeplechase – Best finish ever was 9th by Ben De Lay in 2003 (5:57.84)

110m Hurdles – 3 golds and 1 silver – Jason Richardson 2003 (13.29), Cordera Jenkins 2005 (13.35), Wayne Davis 2007 (13.18)

400m Hurdles – 2 golds, 2 silver, 2 bronzes – golds:  Jason Richardson 2003 (49.91), William Wynne 2007 (49.01)

High Jump – one finalist ever – Donte Nall, =9th 2005

Pole Vault – one medallist ever – Scott Roth – 2nd 2005

Long Jump – one medallist ever – Christian Taylor – 3rd 2007

Triple Jump – one medallist ever - Christian Taylor - 1st 2007

Shot Put – three have ever made the finals with the best finish 10th

Discus – Best finish ever 5th until this year, where there were a medallist (Ryan Crouser) and 4th place (Alexander Thompson)

Hammer – Best finish ever 4th by Walter Henning in 2007

Javelin – Best finish ever 7th by Chad Brown in 2003

Octathon – Best finish ever 4th by Curtis Beach in 2007

10k Walk – Best finish ever 11th by Zach Pollinger in 2003

Medley Relay – one all but one (2nd in 2001)

1500m – Two girls have ever made the final, with Jordan Hasay finishing 2nd in 2007

3000m – No girl has ever made the final

2000m Steeplechase – No girl has made the final until this year, with Mc Kinzie Schulz and Eleanor Fulton making it.

100m Hurdles – Two golds ever – April Williams (2005) and Julian Purvis (2007)

400m Hurdles – Two golds ever – Ebony Collins (2005) and Dalilah Muhammad (2007)

High Jump – Best finish ever 10th place (Natassia Vice, 1999)
