Media Credentials

Thank you for your interest in the Nike Outdoor Nationals – an NSSF Select Event – to be held June 18-20, 2009 at North Carolina A&T University in Greensboro, North Carolina. Typically one of the largest track & field meets in the nation, the Nike Outdoor Nationals annually draws an estimated 2,800 national caliber high school athletes from across the nation.

Media seeking credentials to cover the event are encouraged to apply as early as possible, Credentials are granted to authorized working media representatives only. Passes are not transferable. Requests should be emailed to NSSF Media Co-ordinator, Fred Steier at no later than Tuesday, June 16 (5 p.m. Central) to receive consideration. The e-mail should contain the following information:

Media (print media, website filing written reports, and still photography, radio).

Working space and credentials will be allotted based on the following priority guidelines:

  1. Daily newspapers covering for next-day publication (based on circulation). Wire services and national publications. NSSF Web site partners.
  2. Radio and television personnel reporting on the event
  3. Web site reporters with a primary focus on athletics, specifically track and field
  4. Non-daily newspapers or publications reporting on the event

 

Confirmation of Credentials

All applicants will receive an email confirming or denying their application within two (2) weeks of receipt.

Media Will Call

Credentials can be picked up at the main entrance to the Track as follows:

Thursday, June 18: 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Friday, June 19: 9:00 am – 8:00 pm

Saturday, June 20: 7:30 am – conclusion of the meet. 

Media must present a photo ID in order to receive credentials.

Media Entrance: All media should check in the with the NSSF Media Director, Fred Steier at the Stadium press box when arriving at the track.

Terms and Conditions

Media Credential(s) is/are issued to an accredited organization ("Accredited Organization") for the purpose of providing event access to a designated individual (the "Bearer") who is providing media service and/or legitimate journalistic functions in connection with the Nike Outdoor Nationals (the "Event").

Media Credentials are non-transferable and can only be used by the Accredited Organization or the Bearer, and only for news and editorial coverage of the Event.

Bearers of Media Credentials may access all areas of the stadium, except the infield. Photographers have on-field access as indicated by the designation on their credentials.

Video Recording and Webcasting

he National Scholastic Sports Foundation (NSSF) and its owned/managed events including the Nike Indoor Nationals, Nike Outdoor Nationals and Great American Cross Country, owns and retains the exclusive rights to all video coverage of all happenings on the specific event premises and all event related ancillary sites including but not limited to Official Event Hotels, event related special event locations and specific rooms and/or remote dwellings. NSSF policy is to disallow any video recordings of races, interviews, participants, VIPs, event management, event midway and sponsor locations, crowds or any other happenings on the described event related sites, and no video in any format and/or delivery medium may be reproduced or distributed for mass distribution or commercial use without the NSSF’s prior written consent. This does not apply to certifiable accredited news outlets, providing their own analysis or reporting, on the condition that such footage features a reporter or interview subject as the primary focus of the frame(s). In such situations, it is allowable to have the races, participants, VIPs, event management, event midway and sponsor locations, crowds or other happenings as the background to the primary subject. It is also permissible for participants, VIPs, event management, event midway and sponsor locations, crowds or other happenings on the event premises to be the primary subject for television-only broadcasts limited to no more than 90 seconds per spot. Under no circumstances shall any race or event be available in video-on-demand format, subscription basis, live and/or delayed web cast, live video streaming, simulcast and/or broadcast whether in background or otherwise in its entirety without the payment to the NSSF of an agreed upon media rights fee or Service/Product In-Kind trade.

VIOLATION OF THESE TERMS/CONDITIONS AND LIMITS WILL RESULT IN THE NSSF TAKING APPROPRIATE ACTION TO PROTECT ITS RIGHTS RELATED TO ITS EVENT RELATED CONTENT.

Commercial Still Photography

The National Scholastic Sports Foundation, Inc. prohibits the sale of photographs from its events, and will not credential any photographers whose photos will be used for any purpose other than media coverage.

Violations

Violation of any of any of the above conditions, including improper or unauthorized entry into restricted areas, may result in revocation of credentials for the Event and barring of the Bearer or Accredited Organization from future NSSF events. Restricted areas shall include, but are not limited to: Competition Field.

The Accredited Organization and the Bearer assume all risks incident to attending the Event. The Accredited Organization and the Bearer hereby release the National Scholastic Sports Foundation, Inc. from, any and all loss, cost, damages, settlement, fine or expense, including reasonable attorneys’ fees and costs of suit, arising from any claim, action, government procedure, or suit arising out of the Event. Further, the Accredited Organization and the Bearer hereby agree that the National Scholastic Sports Foundation, Inc. shall not be liable for any indirect, special, consequential, exemplary or incidental damages. The Accredited Organization assumes all risks and liabilities for the actions of all those individuals bearing credentials under its Organizational name. Furthermore, the Accredited Organization offers assurances that individuals bearing credentials under its name have undergone background security screening or otherwise pose no reasonable security risk to athletes, event organizers, or any other persons at the 2009 Nike Outdoor Nationals.
