2019 NBNO was bigger and better than ever!!

It's been just over a week since the final memorable finish, but we can tell you we'll never forget the 2019 New Balance Nationals Outdoor -- the year we expanded to four days, welcomed nearly 1,500 more athletes to Greensboro and saw the meet reach new heights.

Our outdoor nationals -- launched in 1991 and held for the 10th time this spring with our much-appreciated partners from New Balance -- have always been about a FULL championship program and outstanding depth of competition. The waves of great athletes and performances started Thursday morning with the Junior High and Freshman competitors (14 new events) and didn't let up until the final Championship 4x400s were contested (and swept by Bullis School) Sunday afternoon. Nearly 7,000 of the nation's best runners, jumpers, throwers, walkers and relay crews from 49 states (including Alaska!), D.C., Canada, Puerto Rico and Barbados converged on Irwin Belk Track at North Carolina's BB&T Stadium.

In case you missed it, the NSAF once again published its NBNO meet program exclusively as a FREE PDF file for you to read or download from your smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop computer!  Here is a link to details for our 50-page 2019 NBNO Meet Program (7.6MB) for your enjoyment. It's packed with profiles, stats and more. Make sure you read the profiles of our Coach of the Year Glover Smiley and Honorary Referee Doriane Lambelet Coleman.

Off the track in Greensboro

We hope that when you were looking for something to do in Greensboro during a break from the track, you took time to check out the International Civil Rights Center and Museum. Our friends at the Museum told us more than 400 folks from the meet came and benefited from the tour discount offered to all involved with NBNO. This is a must-see regarding historic Civil Rights events in Greensboro and beyond. To learn more about the museum, go HERE for details.

A shoutout and thanks to all of our partners and sponsors!

We were grateful to have Primo Water, our Official Water Sponsor, and Gatorade, our Official Sports Fuel Provider, on hand with us as the temperatures rose each day during NBNO. Athletes were seen all over the facility re-fueling with Gatorade and/or filling up their water bottles at the Primo Hydration Stations. The heat would be extremely challenging to deal with if not for those two long-time sponsors.

We welcomed a new vendor to NBNO this year: Inclusive Randomness, a black-owned pin back button company based out of Houston. They were busy all weekend, as student-athletes love their quirky, crazy, ratchet, black pride, and black pop culture buttons with a message for their backpacks and clothing.

The NSAF was again proud to work with our Exclusive Baton Partner, RelayBatons.com. Their ability to provide commemorative custom batons to each relay team entered and the awarding of commemorative All-American batons (top 6 relay teams in the championship relays) is a huge addition to the meet. It's great to see the kids' faces when they get batons with their school name or during awards.

Numerous athletes were seen checking out the Recovery Zone at NBNO, sponsored by ROLL Recovery! They appreciated the space to stretch and roll out before, after, or between races and field events. They also signed up for giveaways and were able to purchase ROLL Recovery products at special discounted event pricing.

We were also grateful to have Chill Skinz with us at NBNO. Their instant cooling towels and headwear provided a lot of relief to overheated athletes, coaches and fans. Hope you checked out their booth and tried their products!

Speaking of trying new things, hope everyone got to step onto an ElliptiGo at NBNO. It's the world’s first elliptical bicycle which delivers a fun, comfortable and effective cardiovascular workout experience that inspires people and improves their lives -- while eliminating impact on joints. They have helped Great Oaks High School and Coach Doug Soles build a national distance dynasty out of Temecula, California. Learn more at their website and Facebook Page.

We're also glad for our Exclusive National Sports Medicine Research Partners from the Sanford Sports Science Institute (SSSI). Sanford Health – an integrated health system headquartered in the Dakotas. They conduct research in conjunction with the NSAF to help with the development of future Olympic and World Championship hopefuls. We'll be with them later this summer for our 3rd annual special combined Project Javelin Gold and Project Triple Jump clinic August 8-11 at their modern complex in Sioux Falls. The clinic is open to any interested athletes and coaches.

JAWKU Speed is about performance - measure speed, agility, and reaction time. Getting fast is a mental and physical commitment, make every effort count. Our NBNI competition bibs were provided by Athlete Race Numbers, the Official Bib Printer of the NSAF. Meet Directors, be sure to check out Athlete Race Numbers for your own meets and use the handy NSAF16 code to receive a discount.
