Countdown is ON for expanded NBNO

The 2019 New Balance Nationals Outdoor is just over a month away and we are looking forward to welcoming more than 5,000 athletes to Greensboro for our expanded championships! For the first time, NBNO will be held over four days – Thursday, June 13 through Sunday, June 16 – thanks to a full slate of Junior High and Freshman events that will be contested primarily on the opening day of the meet. This will be our 10th NBNO since we joined forces with our great partners from New Balance.

Four new things to know now about 2019 NBNO

28 Selected for Team NSAF Return to Cuba

After traveling to and competing in Freeport, Bahamas in 2018, Team NSAF is thrilled to be returning to Havana, Cuba this spring! We have selected 28 student-athletes from around the country to compete with us in the 2019 Memorial Barrientos, the multi-nation international meet taking place June 7-9 in Havana’s Estadio Panamericano.

Our Team NSAF includes a great mix of state and national champions, list leaders and rising stars. They represent 18 states – from Rhode Island to Texas, and from Washington to Florida – and some of our best and brightest young stars in the sprints, hurdles, jumps, throws and middle distances. Team NSAF will also be looking to continue its tremendous success in the relays – which have never dropped a baton under Coaches Paul Limmer and Carmen Jackson!

It’s been four years since our historic first trip to Cuba – and 13 since we started the Caribbean Scholastic Invitational in Puerto Rico in 2006.

Iron Wood Throws will rev up again in Idaho!

The NSAF is excited to be returning to the Iron Wood Thrower Development Camp for the fourth time this spring, where we will be hosting the Iron Wood Throws Classic on May 31-June 1, 2019! The Classic was originally the Chicagoland Throws and was moved to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho in 2016. We’re extremely grateful to be working with Camp founder Bart Templeman and meet/camp director Jarred Rome (2008-2012 Olympian in the discus) for this special opportunity for a select team of our top U.S. preps to compete alongside a big group of USATF elites in the shot put, discus, javelin and hammer throw.

2019 Select Meet season almost complete

The spring portion of the 2018-19 NSAF Select Meet season has reached the home stretch with another super Howard Wood Dakota Relays last weekend in Sioux Falls, SD and the final Select Meet coming up at the Great Southwest Classic in Albuquerque on June 6-8. Check out the full schedule HERE.
