Giving Tuesday and the NSAF

If you're reading this page and/or on our NSAF email list, you are no doubt passionate about track and field. Here's an opportunity to make a big difference in the sport: "Giving Tuesday," a movement started in 2012, is Tuesday, November 29.  A Giving Tuesday donation to the NSAF will help inspire young track and field athletes in the USA that truly need your help and financial support, giving them opportunities for success that might not be available to them without your help. Please help these athletes reach their dream by giving your tax deductible donation to the NSAF. Together we can continue to inspire athletes for future success.

Please go to our NSAF Giving Tuesday page to read more about our mission for this campaign and how you can help.

NBNI: Full steam ahead!

The 2016-17 prep indoor track and field season is now underway in many states, and that means the countdown to the 2017 New Balance Nationals Indoor is on the minds of thousands of athletes, coaches, parents and fans.  Just over 14 weeks remain before the first gun goes off in The Armory Track and Field Center for the big show and we can't wait to see what the best sprinters, jumpers, hurdlers, throwers, distance runners, walkers and relay squads do as they prepare for that climactic March 10-12 weekend.

NBNI was incredible in 2016, with 11 national records set, plus 16 national class records and 35 meet records.  Please check out the following links and good luck with your seasons.  See you in New York!

Newest NSAF Select Meet: Milestat VA Showcase

We're more than excited about the newest addition to our roster of NSAF Select Meets, the new MileStat VA Showcase.  We are helping Milestat.com bring in many of the top athletes in the country -- many of them NBN champions and All-Americans -- to Libery U. in Lynchburg, VA for what should be an electrifying Jan. 13-14, 2017 showdown.  Those athletes include Olympian Sydney McLaughlin, World Youth and Junior champ Sammy Watson, record-setters Tyrese Cooper and Brandon McGorty, GAXC champ Kate Murphy and many others.  And in addition to all that, Jamacian powerhouse St. Jago's will be bringing many of its top athletes for a rare indoor appearance.

Check out THIS LINK for more on the meet, including additions of more top athletes.

Project Triple Jump returning to Ft. Lauderdale

The venues have been set for the next Project Triple Jump Clinic, January 12-15, 2017: We will return to the outstanding Carter Park facility in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., while also utilizing St. Thomas Aquinas HS.  We last trained at Carter Park for the 2nd clinic of the 2013-14 campaign.  Triple jumpers everywhere are invited to join our elite group, Head Coach Peter Pratt, Project Coordinator Macka Jones, Dr. Margaret Ottley and the rest of our staff for a great weekend of training and learning in South Florida.  Check out the photo of 2016 Olympic TJ 4th-place finisher Keturah Orji training with us at Carter Park in 2014.

Our 2016-17 roster includes newcomers Koi Johnson (Dickinson HS (TX) soph) and Jasmine Moore (Mansfield Lake Ridge HS (TX) soph), and returnees Arielle Mack (El Paso Burges HS (TX) senior), Jalen Seals (Fort Worth Boswell HS (TX) senior), Allyson Weiss (East Ridge HS (MN) junior), Jordyn Lesh (Harpeth Hall HS (TN) senior), Marcus Floyd (Middleburg HS (FL) soph) and Saudia James-Heard (Curtis HS (WA) junior).

Over Labor Day weekend, the Project had another tremendous experience training in Nassau and earned a special segment on Bahamas national television.

Project Javelin Gold is Baton Rouge-bound

After an outstanding fall clinic at East Stroudsburg, PA in September, the NSAF's Project Javelin Gold is preparing to return to Louisiana State U. in Baton Rouge for our January 26-29, 2017 winter clinic!  Just this week it has been announced that Kim Hamilton -- a 2-time Olympic Trials Finalist and NCAA All-American -- will join our staff of elite coaches, which also includes Jeff Gorski, Tom Putskys and Duncan Atwood.

We first trained at LSU last January and had an excellent turnout, with everyone thriving at the outstanding Bernie Moore Track Stadium facility.

Our 2016-17 roster includes newcomers Ty Hampton (North Bend (OR) HS soph), Gavin Darcy (Dunmore (PA) HS junior), Joe Nizich (Central Catholic HS (OR) frosh), Lillian Hill (North East HS (PA) junior) and Skylar Ciccolini (Mifflin HS (PA) soph), and returnees Liam Christiansen (Academic Magnet HS (SC) senior), Roman Mitchell (Southeast Raleigh HS (NC) junior) and Meghan Owens (Mercer County HS (KY) soph).  We welcomed the newcomers at East Stroudsburg, as well as 2012 Olympic Trials finalist Sean Keller and Dr. Margaret Ottley -- all of whom we look forward to working with again.

Join us in Baton Rouge!

Check out our Cedric Walker Development Grant service projects!

Earlier this fall, we announced this year's Cedric Walker Development Grant recipients.  Grants were awarded to 16 track clubs and high school track teams (see below) in honor of our late board member, coach, mentor and friend, Cedric Walker, who passed in March, 2013.  The grants are intended to help teams and clubs purchase equipment, improve facilities, meet the needs of their student-athletes, enable coaches' education and much more.

Now we have some photos from the service projects these teams and clubs have completed.  Please go to our Facebook Page to check them out!

Also, please go HERE to read about the 16 recipients, more about the grants, and about the life of Cedric Walker.
