Track & Field and Cross-Country Bulletin for Jul 20, 2016
Team NSAF at the IAAF World U20 Championships!
A huge piece of what the National Scholastic Athletics Foundation has done since its inception is supporting track and field at the Junior or U20 level. This initiative predated even our national high school championships within the Foundation, as we've provided travel grants for deserving athletes to get to this level. The ultimate goal is to see athletes get to the World Championship podium, so here we are back in Bydgoszcz, Poland to support these kids and report on the achievement of their dreams!
We are in the 2nd day with 4 to go after this. Here are the highlights of our coverage:

Project Triple Jump Alums excel at next level
Our NSAF Project Triple Jump Class of 2015 alums have had a great spring and early summer and showed up big time at the Olympic Trials earlier this month. Keturah Orji continued her ascent toward the Olympic podium with a decisive victory in the women's TJ final in Eugene, confirming her status as #1 American and a rising medal threat. The U. of Georgia soph earlier this year set the American Record at 47-8, defended her NCAA TJ title and also took 4th in the World Indoor Champs in Portland. She has come a long way toward achieving her (and our) dreams for the Project's success.
U. of Florida teammates KeAndre Bates and Darrielle McQueen, also part of the Project '15 class, also performed well during their NCAA and Olympic Trials endeavors and each was named to the Team USA that competed in the the NACAC U23 meet in San Salvador, El Savador last weekend. Each won bronze medals, KeAndre in the LJ and Darrielle in the TJ. Earlier, KeAndre had placed 2nd in the TJ and 3rd in the LJ to help Florida to the NCAA men's team title, then took 6th and 9th in the Olympic Trials long and triple jumps. Darielle was 5th in the NCAA long jump and made the Trials in both horizontals.
Next up: American JavFest
It's less than two weeks until our second annual American JavFest, to be held in East Stroudsburg, Pa., the weekend of Saturday-Sunday, July 30-31, 2016. The first edition of the event in 2015 was a huge success, with javelin coaches and legends Jeff Gorski, Tom Pukstys, Duncan Atwood and Kate Schmidt educating and motivating, and the athletes producing outstanding performances. Come out to throw or come out to watch and support the top preps, elites and rising stars. Details at the American JavFest site.
