NBNO is just around the corner!

Our 25th Anniversary NBNO: Celebrate with us next week!

It's almost time for our 25th Anniversary New Balance Outdoor Nationals, set for next Friday-Sunday, June 17-19, 2016, again at Aggie Stadium on the campus of North Carolina A&T State University. We've come a long way since the first National Scholastic champs 25 years ago at Birmingham HS in Van Nuys, Calif. We had just a few hundred athletes at that first nationals in 1991, but even then the stars came out in the names of Amy Acuff, Marion Jones and others.

Dozens of future Olympians and other Team USA athletes have followed and in 2015 we hosted nearly 5,400 athletes from 46 states, the District of Columbia and three Canadian provinces -- the first time over 5,000 competing in our indoor or outdoor championships.  Five national records were set last year -- how many will we see in '16?

The weekend will be full of special guests, features and events. And, as we did at NBNI in March, we will honor NSAF co-founder Michael Byrnes, who passed away this past December. The big question: Can you still register? The answer is "Yes." The normal entry deadline has passed, but late registrations are being accepted. Please go to the ENTRY INFORMATION page for details

NEW and EXCITING partners and features at NBNO!

Recovery Zone by ROLL Recovery and BodyArmor: Be on the lookout for our new Recovery Zone at NBNO, sponsored by ROLL Recovery and BodyArmor! It will be a space where athletes can stretch and roll out before, after, or between races and field events. Athletes can also sign up for giveaways and try and/or purchase ROLL Recovery products, which will be for sale at special discounted event pricing. Body Armor is our official hydration sponsor. In an attempt to be a bit more “green,” Body Armor will be giving a free water bottle to all athletes, and will have other surprises as well. Fill up your bottles at the Primo Hydration Stations around the track and facility, and use the bottles throughout the weekend!

Team NSAF excels again in Cuba!

The NSAF's second excursion to Havana, Cuba for the Caribbean Scholastic Invitational in Cuba, May 24-29, was a lot different than the first in 2015. This time, there were athletes from 12 countries competing, including senior-level competitors from Cuba and others, and the meet was four days instead of two -- having become part of the historic Barrientos Memorial meeting.

The end result, however, was very similar to 2015: A fantastic international experience for Team NSAF that saw a lot of team and individual growth, as well as outstanding performances. The highlight competitively was taking three of the four meet-ending relays, with victories in the men's 4x100 and 4x400, the women's 4x400, and a runner-up finish in the women's 4x100. The 28 Team NSAF athletes won six events, claimed seven silver or bronze medals, and pushed to numerous PR or near-PR performances -- both medal-winning and non-medal-winning.

Team NSAF throwers go long at Iron Wood TC Classic

The NSAF's first Iron Wood TC Throws Classic, after three years of Chicagoland Throws events, was an overwhelming success as the event -- pairing our top prep throwers with Olympians, aspiring Olympians and other USATF elites -- was relocated to the Iron Wood Throwers Development Camp in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. The camp -- founded by Bart Templeman in 1989 and now directed by 3-time Olympian Jarred Rome -- has been a "field of dreams" for throwers for many years. The 16 Team NSAF athletes were joined by more than 20 USATF elites for three outstanding men's and women's competitions in the hammer, shot put and discus.

Team NSAF highlights included a nation-leading shot put by Jordan Geist (74-4.5), a third straight discus win (HS level) by Kiana Phelps and several other PRs and U.S. top-10 level performances. The elites were chasing Olympic Trials and Olympic 'A' standard qualifying marks and included such super veterans as 2008 Olympic discus champ Stephanie Trafton Brown and 3-time Olympian A.G. Kruger, as well as former NSAF national champions Mason Finley, Conor McCullough and Becky O'Brien.

With the prospect of a new javelin runway at Iron Wood, the NSAF hopes to return here in the future!  RESULTS
