Count Down to New Balance Nationals Outdoors

June 13-15, 2014

Registration will close Sunday at 3pm ET.  

We're less than one week away from the start of another epic NBNO.  All entries MUST be finalized by Sunday at 3pm Eastern Time.  Please read all information on our NBNO Information Page carefully.  Other websites may carry similar information but may not be up to date.

We'll have our Steve U's incisive meet preview articles throughout the week leading up to NBNO on our website. And, checkout our daily 2013 throwback cover photos updated daily on our Facebook Page.

Our Cover Photo is of  the 2013 NBNO Swedish Relay Champions, Western Branch.  We'll reveal next week why we chose them for this as well as for the cover of our 2014 NBNO Meet Magazine.

 

So you've entered- now what...   If you haven't already done so, please log back into your account and fill out your Bio Sheet.  Our announcers use these to let everyone know who you are when you make that huge throw or run that incredibly fast time.  Do it  here.  

Some general reminders...

One of the perks of staying at either the Marriott or the Sheraton is use of the free shuttle bus which runs between the hotels and the track.  If you're driving there is a $10.00 parking fee collected by the University.  

Packet pickup starts Friday at 8:00 am (NOT Thursday)

Start lists will be posted by Wednesday evening.  Entries lists are already posted and are updated every day. Some of you may have questions on seeding.  Please review our Seeding Rules before contacting us.

Need to ship your pole- Fly-away Pole Protection will do it for you.

Have a question about relay cards, batons, spike size... check out our Final Instructions.  Most likely the answer is there. Please note the changes to the stagger in the 4x200 relay.

We're lighting it up... Generally, its the athlete who "light" up the track. For the first time in the meet's 24-year history we're bringing our own fire and setting the field ablaze.  Details coming shortly.  

The World's Longest Selfie Chain... Get ready for selfie on selfie on selfie on selfie on selfie action. At this year's New Balance Nationals we're going to attempt to break the Guinness Book of World Records for the longest selfie chain…and we need your help! There will be Guinness Officials on site to verify the record, and if we succeed they will present the record-breaking award to all of us live. Be prepared to join New Balance on Saturday, June 14th to help set a new Guinness World Record. 5000 meters from Trackside... Everyone is invited down on the track during the 5000 meter races on Thursday night.  Get out of the stands and come cheer on the runners- We've got the noise-makers - all you need to  bring is enthusiasm!

 

Javelin and Shot Put Clinics-

Back by popular demand.  The Javelin Clinic with Jeff Gorski and Barry Krammes will be held Saturday June 14th at 3:30pm on the outside javelin runway area. It is FREE and anyone with interest in the javelin may attend.  Jeff and Barry are the lead coaches for the NSAF's Project Kultan Keihas (Javelin Gold).  

The UCS Shot Put Clinic is scheduled for Saturday morning at 8:00 at the shot put area.  Shelton Harrison's hands-on presentation is always packed so get there early.  He will also be giving away two shot puts provided by our friends at UCS.

 

Attention all throwers...

The NSAF is selecting the top three finishers  (male and female) in each throwing event at the meet for full sponsorship to the ChicagoLand Throws at  Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois on July 12th.  A fourth athlete will be selected in each discipline (male and female) on an at-large basis.  The 32 athletes will be invited at NBNO and will be required to make their decision to accept then.  The Team NSAF will be fully funded by the NSAF. through its  Performance Clinics and Select Meet program.  Team NSAF athletes will compete alongside professional athletes at the event. Fastest Kid in Guilford County

Elementary kids in the area will once again contset for Fastest Kid honors in the 100 meters.  Some of our past winners have gone on to excell in high school!  Online registration closes on Wednesday but we will take walk-in registration up to one hour before the prelims start on Friday at 4:45pm.  Get all information on when, where and the check-in procedures here.

 

College Recruiting SimplifiedT&F Recruiting Expert at NBNO

The National Collegiate Scouting Association (NCSA) is the Official Scouting Organization and Provider of Recruiting Services of the New Balance Nationals. Alison Vincent, the NCSA's Head Recruiting Coach for track and field.  Alison will be available at the event to meet you, answer your questions, and to present NCSA's College Recruiting Simplified program to all interested parents, athletes and coaches.  Each entrant can also choose to receive more info by simply checking a box as a part of their registration process on Headcount or by clicking here   Alison is scheduled to present at 11am, 3pm and 5pm on Friday and Saturday and at 11am on Sunday at the track.

 


The final NSAF Select Meet for the season is the Great Southwest Classic scheduled for this weekend, June 5-7, in Albuquerque, NM.  The NSAF is providing travel grants to several athletes recommended by the meet management as well as to the athletes in our Javelin and Triple Jump programs. Applications for the Cedric Walker Development Grants are now open and   will be awarded in the Fall. Please read the grant requirements carefully before submitting your application and bear in mind that these are development grants and not travel grants.
