Arcadia Friday Highlights: Vacaville SHR sets NR! Williams, Moore win multis! Great Oak 4x16 double!

  • NATIONAL RECORD 57.17 girls’ 4x100m shuttle hurdle relay by Vacaville CA team of Nia Vance, Jurnee Woodward, Pattriana Perry and Daria Cook, outrunning former record-holders Long Beach Poly at US#2 58.05 (#4 all-time).
  • US#1 7,525 boys’ decathlon (#3 all-time w/HS implements) by Harrison Williams (Memphis U. HS, TN senior), defending his title.  Timothy Duckworth (Arcadia, AZ senior) was 2nd at US#2 7,122 pts, John Lint (Columbus Acad., OH senior) was 3rd with 7,081 pts and Travis Tolliver (Episcopal, TX) 4th at 6,929.
  • US#1 5,048 girls’ heptathlon by Ashley Moore (Highland, AZ senior), holding off Tiana Bonds (Centennial, NV) US#2 4,999.  Shaina Burns (Lakeville South, MN senior) was 3rd at 4,908, just edging Maya Neal (Neuqua Valley, IL senior) 4,904.
  • US#1 and meet record 3:26.56 boys’ sprint medley relay by McQueen NV (Delon Buncio, Patrick Deleon, Sebastian Feyersinger, Connor Ross), as anchor Connor Ross overtook and pulled away from Long Beach Wilson CA US#2 3:28.69.  Third-fastest overall was seeded race winner Paramount CA at US#8 3:30.01.
  • US#1 20:12.79 girls’ 4x1600m relay (#11 all-time) by Great Oak CA (Desiree Stinger, Ashley Helbig, Destiny Collins, Haley Dorris), using three legs between 4:57 and 5:02 as they took over in the 3rd leg and pulling away to victory over Saugus CA US#2 20:18.84 (Sabrina Janes 4:56.0 anchor).  Desert Vista AZ (Danielle Jones 4:56.8 anchor) was a very close 3rd at 20:18.92. 
  • US#1 17:21.11 boys’ 4x1600m relay by Great Oak CA (Nicholas Doan 4:14.9 anchor), as they drew away in the final two laps, completing a first-ever girls/boys sweep of the event at Arcadia.  US#2 17:22.43 for Central Catholic OR in 2nd (Kyle Thompson 4:15.9 anchor), with Dana Hills CA US#4 17:32.25 beating Warren CA US#5 17:36.48 for 3rd.  Seattle Prep WA won the seeded section with 17:45.23 as Joe Hardy anchored in 4:13.2.
  • US#1 1:00.43 boys’ 4x110m shuttle hurdle relay by Brophy Prep AZ (Robert Brooks, Isaiah Oliver, Samir Rahman, Robert Grant), as anchor Robert Grant surged ahead for the victory.  Union Catholic NJ, the 2013 NBNO champs, were 2nd at US#2 1:00.70.
  • US#1 7:44.92 boys’ 4x800m relay by Rocky Mountain ID (Michael Slagowsky, Phil O’Brien, Joe Giese, Jordon Wallin 1:54.2 anchor), edging Redondo Union CA US#2 7:45.09.  Also under 7:50 were Centennial NV US#4 7:46.67 (Dominic Roberts 1:53.1 anchor) and Loyola CA 7:48.92.
  • US#1 1:31.55 boys’ 800 sprint medley relay by Serra CA (Ronny Hall, Jordan Lasley, Adoree Jackson, Stefon Goudeau), prevailing over runner-up Brentwood Heritage CA US#4 1:32.55, with Great Oak CA 1:33.75 in 3rd.
More outstanding victories
  • US#2 and meet record 3:59.66 girls’ 1600 sprint medley relay by Centennial NV (Tiana Bonds, Holli Dunn, Bianca Bryant, Sydney Badger), with anchor Sydney Badger overtaking the leader and pulling away.  Piedmont Hills CA rallied for 2nd at US#3 4:02.09, but 2nd overall went to seeded race winner Corona del Mar CA at US#2 4:01.57.
  • US#2 1:45.60 girls’ 800 sprint medley relay by Long Beach Poly CA (Arianna Washington, Kaelin Roberts, Jade Lewis, Hollie Harris), just barely holding off Edison CA US#4 1:45.81.  Los Alamitos CA was more than a second back in 3rd at 1:47.07.
  • US#2 9:06.90 girls’ 4x800m relay by Clovis North CA (Lauren Lienau, Lauren Moffett, Madi Hiatt, Mikaela Smith 2:09.6 anchor), pulling away from Redondo Union CA US#3 9:10.18.  Arroyo Grande CA was in 3rd at US#8 9:19.65.
  • US#6 1:37.82 girls’ 4x200m relay by Parkland NC (Katlin Sherman, Ebony Williams, Miaysha Bryant, Erin Morrison), winning decisively over Long Beach Poly CA 1:39.33.  The 3rd-best time overall came out of seeded race as Serra CA won with 1:39.49.
  • 1:27.18 boys’ 4x200m relay by Union Catholic NJ (Steven Franco, Taylor McLaughlin, Obafemi Animashaun, Jordan Jimerson), topping Arbor View NV 1:27.77 and Monrovia CA 1:27.87.
