TWO National Records and 5 more US#1s

  • NATIONAL RECORD 1:33.47 D-II girls’ 4x200m relay for the St. Thomas Aquinas FL quartet of Khalifa St. Fort, Diamond Spaulding, Kendall Ellis and Krystal Sparling (old record, 1:33.87, Long Beach Poly, 2004), winning by more than three seconds.  US#2 1:36.75 for Long Beach Poly CA in 2nd and US#4 1:37.40 for Converse Judson TX in 3rd.  STA would have finished 3rd in the University Invite division, ahead of everyone but Texas and Texas A&M.
  • NATIONAL RECORD 14-3.25 girls’ pole vault by Desiree Freier (Justin Northwest, TX senior), adding to the HSR she set indoors at NBNI two weeks ago.  She had just one miss on her first four bars through the record, then missed three times at 14-6.  Kally Long (Wimberly, TX senior) 2nd with US#4 13-5.25, Nicole Summersett (Austin Westlake, TX junior) 3rd with 13-1.5.  Freier would have finished 3rd in the University Invite division.
  • US#1, meet and stadium record 3:38.26 D-II girls’ 4x400m relay (#16 all-time) for St. Thomas Aquinas FL (Krystal Sparling, Diamond Spaulding, Narinah Jean-Baptiste, Kendall Ellis), also setting a state all-time best and becoming the 2nd fastest team ever outside of California.  They came within .02 of a 4x1/4x2/4x4 sweep.  US#2 3:42.84 for Long Beach Poly CA in 2nd, well ahead of 3rd-place Lancaster TX at US#3 3:46.16.
  • US#1 45.73 D-II girls 4x100m relay for Long Beach Poly CA (Autumn Wright, Jade Lewis, Maya Perkins, Ariana Washington), nipping St. Thomas Aquinas FL at US#2 45.75 and breaking up an STA sweep of the 4x1/4x2/4x4.  Converse Judson TX 46.99 edged Houston Cypress Springs TX 47.11 for 3rd.
  • US#1 1:25.57 D-II boys’ 4x200m relay for Texarkana Texas TX (Jacorian Walker, Trey Walker, Trey Monk, Kevin Harris) over Cibolo Steele TX 1:25.82.  Denton Ryan TX was 3rd at 1:26.33 and prelims leader (then-US#1 1:25.61) Brenham TX was 4th at 1:26.61.
  • All-conditions US#1 50-4w (+2.2) boys’ triple jump for Project Triple Jump's KeAndre Bates (El Paso Burges, TX senior), taking it by more than a foot over Jared Lovelace (Archbishop Molloy, NY junior) at 48-7.5w (+2.4), Kerwin Roach (Galena Park North Shore, TX junior) at 48-0 (+1.9w) and Connor Turnage (Highlands Ranch, CO senior) at 47-1w (+2.3).
  • All-conditions US#1 42-3.25w (+3.2) girls’ triple jump for Asa Garcia (Texas City, TX junior), winning by more than a foot over Bria Druilhet (Fort Bend Austin, TX senior) at 40-11.75w (+3.2) and Kenjia Collier (Houston Worthing, TX senior) at 40-2w (+2.6).

  • 17-4.5 boys’ pole vault for Devin King (Jewel Sumner, LA senior), already US#1 at 17-5 outdoors and the HSR-setter at 17-10.25 indoors at NBNIGavin Gautreaux (Catholic New Iberia, LA senior) US#2 17-0.75 in 2nd, and Paulo Benavides (El Paso Franklin, TX junior) and Antonio Ruiz (Tomball Memorial, TX junior) tied for 3rd at US#4 16-8.75.  King missed three times at a meet record 18-0.5.
  • Stadium record 7:49.52 boys’ 4x800 for Keller TX (Derek Gutierrez, Lawson Belcher, Jake McConnell, Austen Dalquist), which was already US#1 at 7:45.40, and completing a DMR/4x8 sweep.  More than three seconds back in 2nd was Justin Northwest TX at US#5 7:52.55, with Lewisville Flower Mound TX 3rd at 7:56.27.
  • US#2 41.12 D-II boys’ 4x100m relay for Lancaster TX (Reggie Garner, Gabriel Walker, Elijah Boyd, Keenan Ivy), holding off DeSoto TX at US#5 41.24 and St. Thomas Aquinas FL at 41.38.  Five broke 42.
  • US#2 3:14.12 D-II boys’ 4x400m relay for Lancaster TX (Anfernee Robinson, Anthony Robinson, Gabriel Walker, Eric Age), giving them a 4x1/4x4 double.  US#5 3:16.96 for McKinney North TX in 2nd and 3:17.25 for Long Beach Poly CA in 3rd, as five broke 3:18.
  • US#2 9:18.30 girls’ 4x800 relay for Canyon TX (Kaitlin Rodriguez, Jordan Norris, Karah Diaz, Izzy Wilson), defeating Lewisville Marcus TX at US#3 9:18.93 and SB Smithson Valley at US#3 9:19.83.
  • 13.79 (-2.2w) Div.-II girls’ 100-meter hurdles into a headwind by Alexis Duncan (DeSoto, TX soph), beating Kiana Hawn (Forney, TX senior) at 13.98 and Payton Stumbaugh (Har-ber, TX senior) at 14.07.
  • 24-1.5w (+3.6) boys’ long jump for Jay Bradford (Splendora, TX junior), US#4 all-conditions and defeating Kene Nwangwu (Frisco Heritage, TX soph) 23-8w (+2.9), Grayson Barrett (Prosper, TX junior) 23-6.75w (+2.4) and KeAndre Bates (EP Burges, TX senior) 23-4 (+1.5w).
  • 48-4 girls’ shot put by Haley Teel (Gregory-Portland, TX senior), just off her US#3 49-2 best, and ahead of Lauryn Caldwell (Dickinson, TX senior) US#8 48-0.5.  In 3rd was 48-footer Meia Gordon (Houston Cypress Creek, TX junior) with 46-3.25.
  • 13.92w D-II boys’ 110m hurdles for Chevis Armstead (DeSoto, TX junior), who was just 4th in qualifying, more than a quarter-second behind the first four.  Finishing a close 2-3-4 were Isaiah Johnson (Bryan Rudder, TX senior) at 14.06, Jalen Hunter (Denton Guyer, TX senior) at 14.08 and prelims leader (US#1 13.92) Bayron Manuel (LB Wilson, CA senior) at 14.11.
  • 9:06.35 boys’ 3,200m for Carter Blunt (Frisco Heritage, GA soph), just off his previous US#5 (and soph class leading) 9:03.10.  He was followed by Zachary Albright (St. Pauls, LA senior) 9:10.67 and Chris Myers (San Antonio Holmes, TX junior) 9:13.93.  Nine finished under 9:20.
  • US#7 10:27.83 girls’ 3,200m for Paige Hofstad (New Braunfels, TX soph), prevailing over Devin Clark (SB Smithson Valley, TX junior) US#9 10:30.60, with Safiya Belbina (Lewisville Flower Mound, TX junior) 3rd at 10:33.76.  Six broke 10:40 and 12 were under 10:50.
  • 10.55 (+2.0w) D-II boys’ 100 dash for Malcolm White (Katy Taylor, TX senior), outleaning Malik Wilson (Brenham, TX senior) at 10.56, with Darrion Flowers (Arlington Houston, TX senior) 3rd at 10.68.

  • 19-1.25w (+2.7) girls’ long jump by Kiana Hawn (Forney, TX senior), beating Corinne Grandcolas (Austin Westlake, TX senior) 18-8.5w (+3.3) and Hailey Patterson (Kennedale, TX junior) 18-7w (+2.6).

  • G-100: 11.85 (+1.3w) by Akeyla Mitchell (Corpus Christi West Oso, TX senior), beating Kortnei Johnson (Italy, TX senior) 11.88 and prelims leader Daja Gordon (Dallas Hampton Prep, TX frosh) 12.04.
  • G-100H: 14.50 (+1.1w) by Kami Norton (Albany, TX senior), winning decisively over Kyra Anderson (St. Mary’s Academy, CA junior) 14.90.
  • B-110H: 14.32 (+1.8w) by Reese Thompson (Argyle, TX senior), defeating Travis Toliver (Episcopal-Bell, TX junior) at 14.69.
  • G-4x100:  47.59 by Dallas Hampton Prep TX, winning by nearly a second over Rosebud-Lott TX 48.46.  Prelims leader St. Mary’s Academy CA (47.71) did not finish.
  • B-4x100:  42.45 for Episcopal-Bellaire TX, squeaking past Bellville TX 42.47.  Even closer for 3rd as Northside LA gets the nod over Columbus TX with both at 42.82.
  • G-4x200: 1:41.90 by Rosebud-Lott TX, followed by St. Mary’s Academy CA at 1:43.44.
  • B-4x200: 1:29.34 for Celina TX, just ahead of Bellville TX 1:29.39, while Columbus TX took 3rd at 1:29.72 and prelims leader Kennedale TX (1:28.32) was just 5th at 1:30.08.
  • G-4x400: 3:52.38 by St. Mary’s Academy CA, more than five seconds up on Dallas Hampton Prep TX at 3:57.76.
  • B-4x400: 3:19.33 by Taylor TX, beating Episcopal-Bell TX at 3:20.98 and Giddings TX at 3:21.79.
  • G-PV (B-Section): 12-3.5 for Ali Uhle (Tomball, TX senior), winning on misses over Brittany Conway (Longview Pine Tree, TX senior), also at 12-3.5.
