11 MEET RECORDS, 5 US#1s!

  • US#1 4:08.00 mile (also 4:06.56 1,600), US#4 9:02.69 3,200 (both MEET RECORDS) distance DOUBLE by Cerake Geberkidane (Denver East, CO senior.  He negative splitted both races, going 2:06/2:00 in the 1,600 and 4:41/4:21 in the 3,200.  Second in both races to Nathan Rodriguez (Corona del Sol, AZ senior) US#2 4:12.88 (4:11.10 1,600) and 9:14.44.  Lucky Schreiner (Campo Verde, AZ junior) was very close for 3rd behind Rodriguez with 9:15.01 after a 4th in the mile at 4:20.46 (4:18.87 1,600).  Geberkidane’s mile was co-Boys Track Performance of the Meet.
  • US#1 and MEET RECORD 20.91 200 (+0.0w), US#6 10.52 100 (+0.0w) sprint DOUBLE by Paul Lucas (Mountain Pointe, AZ junior).  In the 100, he was just .02 off the meet record and .31 ahead of Cravon Gillespie (Monrovia, CA senior) 10.83 and Joseph Clark (Westwood, AZ senior), also 10.83.  In the 200, he beat Robert Grant (Brophy Prep, AZ senior) – who was recovering from a fall and DNF in the 300H – and his 21.27.  Lucas’ 200 was co-Boys Track Performance of the Meet.
  • US#1 and MEET RECORD 25-5.25 (+0.0w) boys’ long jump for Adorre’ Jackson (Serra Gardena, CA senior), winning by more than three feet over Derrick Monroe (Cibola, AZ junior).  He also ran legs on the winning 4x100 and 4x400 relays.  Jackson’s LJ was Boys Field Performance of the Meet.
  • 47.03 4x100 (off their US#3 46.39), MEET RECORD 3:50.85 4x400 (off their US#7 3:50.20), 9:42.00 4x800 girls’ relay TRIPLE by Long Beach Poly CAGeorge Washington CO 2nd at 49.65 in the 4x100 after Chandler AZ was disqualified.  Corona del Sol AZ 2nd at 3:55.75 and Centennial NV 3rd at 3:56.95 in the 4x400.  Thunderridge AZ 2nd at 9:48.89 in the 4x800.
  • MEET RECORD 41.64 4x100, 3:19.34 4x400 relay DOUBLE by Serra Gardena CA.  In the 4x1, they won by .35, with Long Beach Poly CA edging Monrovia CA for 2nd, 41.99 to 42.02.  In the 4x4, they nipped Poly’s 3:19.42, with Eleanor Roosevelt CA 3rd with 3:19.88.
  • US#1 and MEET RECORD 13.66 (+0.0w) girls’ 100 hurdles by Dior Hall (Denver Science & Tech/George Washington CO senior), topping Tiana Bonds (Centennial, NV senior) 13.88 and Jasmyne Graham (Eleanor Roosevelt, CA junior) 13.95.
  • US#1 49-3.25 boys’ triple jump (+0.0w) by KeAndre Bates (El Paso Burges, TX senior), winning by more than three feet over Stephon Hayden (Poston Butte, AZ senior) 45-9 (+0.0w).  Bates was also 3rd in the HJ.
  • US#2 and MEET RECORD 4:51.20 girls’ 1,600 by Katie Rainsberger (Air Academy, CO soph), holding off Sydney Badger (Centennial, NV senior) US#3 4:52.76 and Lauren Ellsworth (Highland, AZ junior) US#4 4:53.43.
  • US#3 42.04 and MEET RECORD girls’ 300 meter hurdles by Tiana Bonds (Centennial, NV senior), more than 1.5 seconds ahead of Ebony Crear (Long Beach Poly, CA senior) 43.56.  Bonds was also 2nd in the 110H, 4th in the 200, and ran on the 3rd-place 4x400.
  • US#4 11.64 100 (+0.1w) / 24.45 200 (+0.0w) girls’ sprint DOUBLE by Ky Westbrook (Chandler, AZ senior), giving her a Chandler Rotary 3-peat in the 100 and defending her 2013 200 title.  She also was 2nd in the shot put.  The 100 margin was a big .40, with Shayna Yon (Cherokee Trails, CO junior) 2nd with 12.04.
  • US#4 and MEET RECORD-tying 13-0 girls’ pole vault by Vanessa Davis (Desert Vista, AZ junior), winning by a foot and a half over Athena Masolini (Saguaro, AZ senior).
  • US#4 5-8 girls’ high jump for Ashlee Moore (Hamilton, AZ senior), winning by four inches over Zarriea Willis (Alhambra, AZ junior) 5-4.
  • US#5 54.69 and MEET RECORD girls’ 400 for Jasmin Stauffacher-Gray (North Canyon, AZ junior), dominating the field ahead of Alena Ellsworth (Highland, AZ frosh) 55.96 and Payton Miller (Golden, AZ senior 56.28.  Stauffacher-Gray was also a close 2nd in the 200 (24.57 nwi, but almost certainly legal), nearly pulling off the 400/200 double.
  • 6-7 high jump and 15-6 pole vault jumps DOUBLE for Tim Duckworth (Arcadia, AZ senior).  In the HJ, he beat three at 6-6, including Trevon Bosley (Westview, AZ senior), KeAndre Bates (El Paso Burges, TX senior) and Bryant O’Georgia (North Canyon, AZ senior).  In the PV, Jakob Alme (Desert Vista, AZ senior) was 2nd at 15-0.
  • 167-4 discus and 57-2.5 shot put boys’ throws DOUBLE for Reno Tuufuli (Liberty, NV senior).   Jeremy Franklin (Serra, CA senior) was 2nd in both events with 161-11 and 55-1.5.
  • US#7 14.22 boys’ 110-meter hurdles (+0.0w) for Juan Ward (Long Beach Poly, CA senior), coming from behind to edge Tevin Mayfield (Corona del Sol, AZ senior) 14.30.
  • US#7 37.90 boys’ 300-meter hurdles by Tevin Mayfield (Corona del Sol, AZ senior), nipping Juan Ward (Long Beach Poly, CA senior) US#11 38.09 and reversing their order from the 110H.  Pre-race favorite and defending champ Robert Grant (Brophy Prep, AZ senior) slipped and fell early in the race and DNF.
  • 2:14.61 girls’ 800 by Sydney Badger (Centennial, NV senior), coming after a strong runner-up in the 1,600 (see above) and more than two seconds ahead of Mason Swenson (Desert Vista, AZ soph) 2:16.85.  Badger also ran on the 3rd-place 4x400.

  • B-800:  1:54.90 for Cade Burks (Perry, AZ Soph), ahead of another soph, Jordan Gardner (Snowflake, AZ) 1:55.35.
  • G-LJ:  1-2 finish for Eleanor Roosevelt CA juniors Jaela Williams 18-6.5 (+0.0w) and Jasmyne Graham 18-5.5 (+0.0w).
  • G-SP:  1-2 finish for Chandler AZ seniors Bianca Finn 43-2 and Ky Chandler 42-0, with Heather Calandra (Mingus Union, AZ senior) a close 3rd with 41-9.5.
  • B-400:  48.39 for Mar’yea Harris (Long Beach Poly, CA junior), with Brandon Singleton (Cherokee Trails, CO senior) taking a tight 4-way battle for 2nd with 49.09.
  • B-4x800:  8:00.36 for Centennial NV, winning by more than eight seconds over El Paso Burges TX 8:08.60.
  • G-TJ:  36-8.5 (+0.0w) for Tiana Poirier-Shelton (Chandler, AZ frosh), nipping Damali Britton (Desert Vista, AZ senior) 36-8 (-0.1w).
  • G-DT:  133-5 for Makenzie Holmes-Digiovine (Desert Vista, AZ senior), defeating Kayla Melgar (Tempe, AZ senior) 132-9.
