GIRLS

The US leader in the 60m, Mary Beth Sant (shown left)  (Valor Christian, Highlands Ranch, CO) traveled to Houston to compete in the Carl Lewis Invitational.  She won that event 7.47 after a semi of 7.51.  She now owns 4 of the top 5 times run this year.  Marika Brown (Little Elm, TX) ran a fast 7.52 in the semis at that meet.

Precious Holmes (Hillhouse, New Haven, CT) won the Connecticut 300m at the Yale meet in 39.49, just off her 39.30 run at Dartmouth last week.  The next day she ran 55.22 for US #2 at the same meet, besting US leader Deajah Stevens (Cardozo, Queens, NY).

Soph Mackenzie Kerr (Douglas Freeman, Richmond, VA) got the US lead in the 500m at the Hampton Roads meet in Hampton, VA, running 1:15.40. 

 

 

Sabrina Southerland (shown left) (Cardozo, Queens, NY) took the US lead in the 800m at Yale, running an impressive 2:09.67.  This after anchoring her US-leading DMR the night before in 4:55.  Their winning time was 11:55.96.  Erica Johnson (St. Mary’s-Bay View, East Providence, RI) was second to Southerland in the 800m in 2:11.57 and junior Maddy Berkson (Classical, Providence, RI) third in 2:12.14.  Those times are 1-3-4 US thus far.

Sophie Chase (Lake Braddock, Burke, VA) ran 4:53.18 for 1600m at the Hampton Roads meet.  The top 3 times in the US were run at Yale in the 3000m (on a 200m or less track).   Footlocker finalist Marissa Saenger (Clarence, NY) won in 9:51.92, besting Caroline Alcorta (West Springfield, Springfield, PA  - 9:52.37) and Maddy Berkson (9:53.34).  All three are juniors.

Ariel Jones (Atascocita, Humble, TX) won the Carl Lewis 60m hurdles in a US #3 8.62.

At the Millrose Trials 4x400m at the NYC  Armory, Suffern, NY took the US lead in 3:51.50.  Also running fast were Cardozo (Queens, NY) with US #2 3:54.27 and Columbia, Maplewood, NJ with US #5 3:56.74.  Bronxville, NY continued their dominance in the 4x800 with a victory at Yale in the small schools division, running 9:26.63.

Four of the top five times in the US in in the DMR were run at Yale.  As mentioned, Cardozo won in 11:55.96, followed by Tatnall, Wilmington, DE (12:08.26), Great Valley, Malvern, PA (12:10.30) and West Springfield , Springfield, VA (12:10.54).  Grosse Point South (MI), with the Meier twins, ran 12:09.58 at one of Michigan’s MITS meets.  That’s US #3.

Diayja Sheppard (Bowie, Arlington, TX) jumped 5-8 at the Carl Lewis meet for =US #2.  Casidy Callahan (Norcross, GA) won the weight throw at the KYA meet at East Tennessee State U in a US #2 57-3.5.


BOYS

At the Carl Lewis meet, Cameron Burrell (shown left) (Ridge Point, Missouri City, TX) upped his US #1 time to 6.69, =#12 all-time.   He is also the NSAF Athlete Male of the Week. Molefi Maat (Cordova, TN) won the KYA meet in 6.83, US#2.  Right behind him in a US #3 time was Matt Moore (Oak Ridge, TN) in 6.87.  Antuan Davis (Bastrop, TX) also ran 6.87 in finishing second behind Burrell.

Soph Ryan Clark (Banneker, College Park, GA) ran a fast 21.73 at the oversized track at the KYA meet.  Second was Xarious Henderson (Evans, GA) in 21.79, with Molefi Maat third in 21.82.  Laray Smith (Xaverian, Brooklyn, NY) took the US lead in the 300m at the Great Dane meet at the NYC Armory, running 33.96.  Michael Cherry (Oscar Smith, Chesapeake, VA) ran a fast 34.10 on a flat track at the Hampton Roads meet.  Jon Alkins (Eastchester, NY) won the Westchester County meet at the NYC Armory in 34.46, and Brian Smith (Greece-Athena, Rochester, NY) won the Trenton Jackson meet in 34.63.

Rob Napolitano (Red Bank Catholic, Little Silver) won the Yale 3000m in a uS #2 8:37.96.  Second was junior Tony Russell (Henderson, West Chester, PA) in 8:38.01 with third being taken by TJ Hornberger (Lake Shore, Angola, NY) in 8:39.13.  Tom O’Neill (North, Middletown, NJ) took the lead in the 2 mile, covering 9:04.50 for 3200m at the Monmouth County, meet.

Junior Davon Anderson (Summerville, SC) won the KYA meet 60m hurdles in 7.88 for the US lead.  Just .01 back was junior Tony Brown (shown left) (Ozen, Beaumont, TX) in winning the Carl Lewis meet.

Norristown, PA won the Kevin Dare 4x200 in a US #2 1:30.20.  Pennridge (Perkasie, PA) was second in US #4 1:30.57.  Elmont, NY and Union Catholic, NJ went 1-2 at the Millrose Trials 4x400 in 3:20.24 and 3:20.38.  Those two lead the US.  Pennridge won the Kevin Dare 4x400 in 3:20.42, #3 US.

Kellenberg (Uniondale , NY) won the Millrose Trials 4x800 in 7:51.72, the US yearly best.  Chaminade was second in 7:54.76, and St. Anthony’s (South Huntington, NY) third in 7:55.58.

Rob Napolitano anchored a come-from-behind win at Yale in the DMR.  His team, Red Bank Catholic, ran 10:22.05, #3 US.  Behind his team was Henderson, West Chester, PA (10:22.91) and St. Anthony’s (10:25.11)

Isaiah Turek (Ichabod Crane, Valatie, NY) jumped 6-9 at Yale for =#2 US.  Daven Murphree (Big Sandy, TX) increased his US pole vault lead with a jump of 16-8 at the Carl Lewis meet.  Nick Meyer (Bishop Carroll, Wichita, KS) won the Pole Vault Summit at 16-6, with Dylan Duvio (Curtis, River Ridge, LA) second in 16-2.  Matt Rowland (Bellevue, OH) won the Fields meet in US #4 16-4.

Andre Jefferson (shown left) (John Tyler, Tyler, TX) increased his US lead in the long jump, winning the Carl Lewis meet in 24-11.  Desmond Mobley (Greece-Olympia, Rochester) joined the 24-foot club with his 24-1 jump at the Trenton Jackson meet.

Charlie Ionata (Barrington, RI) threw the weight 75-2.75 at a quadrangular meet in Rhode Island on January 14, then upped that to 77-6.5 at the East Coast Invitational on January 19.  He owns the top 5 throw in the US so far this year.  Nik Huffman (Virginia, Bristol, VA) won the KYA meet at 67-00.75.
